Have you heard about the Girl on the Moon? Or the Plank Road Brewery? Learn about her history and that of one of Milwaukee's oldest breweries when we take a VIP hard-hat tour of the Milwaukee brewery of MillerCoors.

Date: May 7, 2016

Schedule: Arrive by 9:45 a.m. Please be prompt. Tour begins at 10 a.m.

Bring: Guests must check in and show a valid I.D. upon check in.

We'll start at the MillerCoors Visitor Center and Gift Shop, 4251 West State Street, Milwaukee. Park there. Enter the visitor center (which also includes a fabulous gift shop). Let the staff there know you are there for the PCA Milwaukee hard-hat tour.

The tour is guided. Guests will have the opportunity to visit areas that our general public is not able to see. This will include our keg-filling operation and our newest, most efficient and cost-effective bottling line.  As with our general tours, you will also be escorted through our brew house operation and our unique historic Caves. The tour will conclude in the Miller Inn with ice-cold product samples for those 21 and over (all guests required to bring a valid ID). The tour involves 4 blocks of outdoor and indoor walking and lasts about 1 ½ hours. In case of rain, visitors will be provided rain ponchos.  Parking is available at the starting location of the tour.

The Girl in The Moon Brewery Shop is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the winter and
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the summer. The shop is located in the Visitor Center and carries a variety of MillerCoors-branded merchandise.

The conclusion of the walking tour features the Miller Caves, part of the original brewery where brewmaster Frederick Miller stored his beer in a naturally cool environment. We'll end our visit in the Miller Inn where we'll have 30 minutes of sampling of the freshest beer you've ever tasted. Soft drinks available for those who prefer a nonalcoholic beverage.

Optional lunch following tour: We'll finish the event with an optional lunch at Oscars Pub and Grill 1712 W Pierce St (S. 17th St., east of the Miller Park Domes and just a short drive from the Miller Valley).

Thanks to board member Kevin Ford for arranging this event for the region.

Note, we have to cap the tour at 25 people. No children under the age of 18 may take the tour and no one under the age of 21 may participate in the beer sampling. An ID must be shown at the start of the tour.

Dress and footwear guidelines apply. Noncompliance with the guidelines will make you ineligible for the tour. No exceptions.

Cost: $10 to defray region costs.
