Oct. 7 tour of crash test facility
PCA-Milwaukee Region will visit the Medical College of Wisconsin Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network Center (CIREN) on the grounds of the Milwaukee VA Medical Center Oct. 7.
This is the only NHTSA-certified full-scale crashworthiness laboratory in an academic setting in the world and includes a facility for full vehicle crashes with test dummies, a sled lab, biomechanics lab and several biology laboratories. The research group consists of 35 scientists, engineers, and technical specialists that receive grant funds from federal and private sources.
Our visit, hosted by the Director, Dr. Frank Pintar, will include a presentation on the work of the Center, a tour that includes the full vehicle crash facility, biomechanics laboratories and a chance to see the high-speed test sled in action. Lastly, there will be time for questions.
