Letter from Zone 13 rep
It’s hard to believe 2018 is coming to an end. The year has flown by and I have no excuse for not providing a From the Zone letter sooner. Nonetheless, it has been a fun year. I would like to start by thanking all those that served as Presidents in Zone 13 and by recognizing your dedication and your efforts over the past year. They are as follows:
- Bluegrass Region – Patrick Meyer
- Chicago Region – Neil MacDonald
- Central Wisconsin Region – Charles Holstein
- Fox Valley Region – Todd Benz
- Kentucky Region - Jason Miller
- Lincoln Trail Region – Marcus Lucas
- Milwaukee Region – Tony Quebbemann
- Southern Indiana Region - Jeff Jackson and Mark Roethemeier
The next time you see your region president, please take a moment to express your gratitude for their time and commitment to your region.
During the past year, Southern Indiana Region and Kentucky Region have been in discussion about the region boundaries between these two regions. I am pleased to announce that the following three counties in Kentucky Region have now been transferred to Southern Indiana Region. They are Henderson, Daviess, and Hancock counties. These counties are just south of Evansville, Ind., the center of the Southern Indiana Region. Check out the photo of the plaque the Kentucky Region presented to Southern Indiana Region to commemorate the agreement between the two regions. It can be seen in Facebook at the following link: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10212492359291316&set=gm.2145870905648883&type=3&theater&ifg=1
This is the PCA Zone 13 Group page. While you are there, please take the time to become a member of the group.
There are several new things coming for the new year. The first is the implementation of the new Autocross Minimum Standards. The final version has not been released, but several versions have been distributed to the Regions through the Presidents. If you have interest in seeing them, please drop me an email or contact your Region President.
The second change coming is the new head restraint policy for DE. The new policy requires the use of an approved head restraint system when using a 5 or 6 point belt or harness system. It also requires that both driver and passenger have the same equipment. This policy does not affect those using the standard 3 point seat belt and shoulder harness provided in the car. Once again, this new policy can be found on the national website.
It’s a little late in the season, but I would like to thank everyone who volunteered to work this year’s Porscheplatz at Road America. There was a tremendous response to my request for help. Hopefully, I communicated with everyone who sent me an email. If I missed you, please allow me to say thanks now for your willingness to volunteer. We had a great event. Thank you to everyone who visited the tent. We set a record attendance with over 400 people visiting.
The upcoming year is looking very special with some great events. This year’s Parade is being held at the Waldorf Astoria Boca Raton Resort located in Boca Raton, Fla. This will be a spectacular event running from July 21 through July 27. Please check out the website at parade2019.pca.org for more information and https://waldorfastoria3.hilton.com/en/hotels/florida/boca-raton-resort-and-club-a-waldorf-astoria-resort-BCTRCWA/index.html to see more information about this beautiful luxury resort. Phase 1 Registration (Housing) opens on Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at 11 CST to current PCA members.
In addition to Parade, there are also two fabulous Treffens planned for this year. The Spring Treffen is scheduled for April 3-6, 2019, and is being held in Santa Barbara, Cal. Registration opens Jan. 16, 2019, at 2 p.m. (CST).
The Fall Treffen is Sept. 4-7, 2019, and will be in Woodstock, Vt., in the beautiful Green Mountains. This too should be an amazing location. More information on all Treffens can be found at www.treffen.pca.org .
May your New Year be filled with great health and happiness. Here’s looking forward to 2019.
Happy New Year.
