Fully subscribed: June 25 Drive to Botham Vineyard
This event is full. We cannot accept any additional RSVPs.
On June 25 we will drive on beautiful, rolling, and scenic Driftless area roads between Verona (a few miles southwest of Madison) and Barneveld. Tour leader, Tom Ingrassia, says that the topography reminds him a bit of Sicily, home of the historic Targa Florio Road race, won multiple times by Porsche sportscars.
We will meet at a convenient place offering both fuel for our cars and ourselves, and restrooms to visit before our departure. The ubiquitous event waiver processing, distribution of detailed turn-by-turn directions, and the obligatory Drivers’/Navigators’ safety briefing will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. We will depart at about 10 a.m.
Our destination is Botham Vineyards in Barneveld. Botham is owned by Peter Botham, a Porsche owner, a PCA member and PCA Club Racer. Upon our arrival, we will enjoy a lunch catered by Red Barn Catering out of Spring Green. Our lunch will consist of tender beef tips in gravy (made with Botham's Big Stuff red wine), truffled peas, Basmati rice, side salad with dressing, bread and butter, coffee with cream and sugar, ice water. The meal will be served on high-quality compostable plates, cups, flatware, and napkins. Everything is dairy and gluten free (except for the bread). After lunch we will enjoy a guided tour of the winery.
