15 Porsches drive 80-plus miles to lunch

by Donna Daunfenbach, Coffee Travelers chair

The May Coffee Travelers Drive started out when I realized my work schedule and Al’s dates for Door County were in direct conflict. Sigh, again. Time brought the news that Al’s tour, as expected, was full and there would be others like myself who were unable to go to Door County. I then pondered the weather and the roads.

The use of a Macan while the daily was getting an oil change lent itself to a re-examination of the back roads around Holy Hill. Happily, I discovered the eastern half of Emerald Drive had been repaved and perhaps even widened a bit making Hogsback Rd a feasible drive again.

Then the real planning started. Where to end? Lake Geneva or East Troy? Where can I take a group for lunch or late breakfast whose number is likely to fluctuate? What about parking? How to connect start and end? What about road construction? Fortunately, all these questions found answers resulting in an enjoyable and safe drive for all.

Luckily Bev staged herself along the route for pictures. Matt Klucha also captured some images of the group. I was too busy herding cats. Thank you to all who joined us for the drive.
