Carrera Chili time Feb. 23
For several decades, the region has held a winter event, usually in February, to warm things up and provide a reason for members to get together. This annual event alternates, featuring Turbo Spaghetti or Carrera Chili.
For 2019, Carrera Chili returns on Feb. 23. This event features region members’ family-tested recipes which are judged in a friendly competition and enjoyed by all. Members are invited to bring a batch of chili if they like. The more batches, the merrier.
Impartial judges are selected from among the attendees to determine the top three entries while all attendees get to vote for their favorite – the People’s Choice winner. While the judges are working, attendees can enjoy a beverage and snacks.
Those who bring a chili should bring it in its own heating device — a slow cooker, crockpot, etc., along with a ladle or large spoon for serving.
Note, if you don’t want to bring a batch of chili, that’s fine. It’s encouraged but certainly not required.
Cost: $10 per person if you are bringing a chili (includes spouse or guest); $15 per person if you are not bringing a chili.
RSVP by Feb. 16 to Kim Zinda. Send your check payable to PCA-Milwaukee to Kim at 5719 Sandview Lane. Racine, WI 53406. Include all names of attendees. The amount you include will indicate if you are bringing a chili or not.
Location: 7512 W. Tuckaway Pines Circle, Franklin, WI 53132. Region member George Kowalski’s home.
Schedule: 5:30 p.m. arrival. Beverages and snacks during the social time. Judging will begin at 6 p.m. and all will enjoy the various chilis as soon as the judges have completed their task.
