This is the first announcement of the upcoming seven-day tour for members of PCA Milwaukee. This tour will begin Monday, April 28, 2025, and end Sunday, May 4, 2025. We will depart from the Pleasant Prairie area and arrive in Bardstown KY the first day. After staying overnight, we will visit Makers Mark Distillery the next morning. We will drive through Rocky Top, TN of our way to Alcoa TN for an overnight and early start to drive the Tail of the Dragon and then the Cherohala Skyway on our way to Helen, GA--Georgia's third most-visited city.

We then head to Dahlonega GA by way of the Georgia Dragon. Dahlonega is said to be the quintessential Hallmark Movie Town. We continue on the Georgia Dragon as we head to North Carolina. North Carolina then offers us a portion of the famous Moonshiner 28 which is fast becoming one of the "must do" roads in the southeast.

The Smoky Mountain Expressway is next, that's Highway 64. It's way too twisty to be called an expressway here in the northern part of the country. We will soon reach the area around Ashville NC early in the day, allowing us to enjoy the area for the rest of Thursday and early on Friday until about 1 p.m., when we head to Boone NC. We will be traveling on parts of the Diamondback Loop as we head to Little Switzerland and then take the Blue Ridge Parkway into Boone.

Here we stay at a lovely spot with an always popular fire pit for our after-dinner get togethers. A short drive the next morning puts us U.S. 421, the “Snake” which features 489 curves and three mountains. We will follow the Wilderness road established by Daniel Boone. But instead of going over the gap we will take the mile-long Cumberland Gap tunnel into its name sake city. Imagine hearing the exhaust notes of 20 Porsches reverberating off the tunnel walls.

After lunch on your own in Cumberland Gap, we'll follow twisty backroads to our destination, Berea KY, for a group dinner and an overnight stay at the Historic Boones Tavern Hotel before we head home the next day.

Thanks to Alan Wagner, my friend and associate in planning this tour. He created all the route instructions and was instrumental in most of the decisions in the planning.

The deposit will cover the costs of the Makers Mark Distillery tour, the printing of the tour directions and other necessary paperwork and your dinner at the Historic Boone Tavern on the last night of the tour. Any deposit monies not used will be proportionately refunded to you. Directions, about the check, will be forwarded to you after your sign-up email is sent to tours@porschepark.org and received.
