Editorial changes announced for the region's newsletter
The following changes in publication frequency are in effect for events hosted by the region
Announcements for events hosted by the region or PCA only will be published in the two newsletters before the event--the month before and the month of the event. Prior to that, a "save the date" note will appear in the newsletter with a link to the event announcement that resides on the website. This means that the full event details can be published on the website as soon as the event organizer wishes and gets the information to the newsletter editor.
The region will publish on the website as much information as an event manager provides as early as they like. On the calendar of events page in the newsletter, a link will be provided to take the reader to the website page where the event details -- full or partial -- are published. Then, in the month before and the month of the event, the full description of the event with links to registration or how to sign up as provided by the event manager will be published in the newsletter.
Using the website for advance notices and the newsletter for events coming up next month and this month will keep the newsletter fresh and interesting. Notices that run for months on end become like wallpaper…the reader sees them for more than two months and potentially looks right past them.
We will continue to use email blasts to remind members of pending deadlines as needed and as requested by the event organizer.
Events that are not hosted by PCA or the region
We will give groups that want to promote their event (like the Coal Dock Park concours) the option to run a paid ad. If they decline, the event information will appear on the website noting it is a courtesy announcement and not affiliated with PCA or the region. The date of the event can be listed on the calendar listing in the newsletter with a link to the announcement on the website.
This change is effective immediately.
